Welcome! A Message from Pastor Chris

Welcome Hillcrest family and Visitors!

Pastor Chris and Family

I know life continues to be a challenge for many of you in our troubled economic times. Jesus told us in John 16:33 “In this world you will have troubles.” Boy, was He correct! However, let me encourage you with the rest of His words. “But take heart, I have overcome the world.” When you choose to trust Jesus He promises to walk with you through whatever valley you are experiencing. This does not mean He will magically take your problems away. However, it does mean you can trust there is a good God who loves you and in all things working for the good of those who love Him.
Can you say that today?
Can you honestly say you love and trust Jesus Christ?

Earlier this year we spent nine weeks learning about God’s love for us and how we can let that love flow through our lives. So let me ask you, do you want your life to count for something? Do you want your life to have real meaning? Do you want to leave a legacy that will glorify a Holy God and encourage generations of people for years to come? Do you want to impact family, friends, and acquaintances in a way that can change their lives for eternity? The answer my friends is LOVE. I am not referring to a friendship type love, a sexual love, or even those ooey gooey feelings you think are love. I am speaking of what the scripture calls Agape love. This is when you willingly choose to sacrifice for others, expecting nothing in return, out of your devotion for God. This includes those who seem unlovable. Why would we do that? Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, told us the greatest use of our life when He told us to, “Love the Lord your God with all our heart, soul, mind, strength and body and to love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus could have told us many ways to live, yet He said it was LOVE that should define our lives. And doesn’t this define Jesus’ life? He made the supreme sacrifice of love for us when He gave his life on the cross.

Do you ever wonder if Jesus really did that for you? Do you ever find yourself doubting and wavering in your faith? It is time for you to know why you believe what you believe. We spent four weeks in April answering the question- DID JESUS REALLY RISE FROM THE DEAD? If He did conquer death, it is the greatest act in history. Jesus would be worthy of our praise and honor. Not only that, it means we have hope beyond the grave. Listen to the four messages under the heading ‘the resurrection series,’ on the audio sermon page (or click here). You will find out just how much Jesus loves you and the sacrifice He made for all who trust in Him.

God bless you all,
Pastor Chris
